Venue: MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre at the FL State Fairgrounds

June 10th, 2022: I’m going to be honest; I was a bit nervous about the show because there was a lot of rain happening just hours prior to showtime but thankfully mother nature was in our favor and the skies were clear!

Garbage was the opening band, and from the start they were pumping out the classics such as “Stupid Girl”, “Queer”, and “The World Is Not Enough”. Following up to those songs, Shirley Mason spoke to the crowd about the recent passing of Depeche Mode keyboard player, Andy Fletcher. She dedicated the next song, “Wicked Ways” to Andy while singing a segment of the Depeche Mode “Personal Jesus” in between the song, to pay homage to Andy and Depeche Mode.

Tears For Fears hits the stage and immediately starts the set by playing 2 songs from their latest album The Tipping Point. The band throughout the show has made it clear and an emphasis that this tour is a strong focus on their latest album along with playing the classics. Following up with performances of their new songs “No Small Thing” and “The Tipping Point”, they performed one of their biggest classic hits “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” in which the whole amphitheater cheered the very second they heard that opening piano riff.

In between some of the classics (Including “Sowing The Seeds Of Love”), they went back to playing new songs such as “Long, Long,Long Time” ”Break The Man” “My Demons” and “Rivers Of Mercy”. The band then mentioned that the last 4 songs played were from the new album and thanked those who purchased/listened to the album.

They went on to play other classics such as “Mad World” “Pale Shelter” and “Head Over Heels/Broken”. They briefly went backstage before coming out to play an encore. They ended the night with their most iconic song “Shout”. This show was truly remarkable. Growing up, my parents always had Tears For Fears playing in the house or in the car.

My Father always talks about how he saw Tears For Fears in concert back in the 80’s, and for me to see them on June 10th, 2022, it feels like life has come full circle for me. Truly a show I will not personally forget.
