The Midnight Puts On an Unforgettable Performance in DC!

Synthwave band The Midnight recently hit up DC on their highly anticipated North American tour, and their fans came out in droves to fill out The Anthem, making this the largest venue the band’s ever headlined so far! There were excited faces all around the room, eager for the show to get started!

The show started off with EDM artist Flamingosis, and true to his name he walked out onstage with a neon flamingo light for the centerpiece of his setup. He got started with his set, and immediately got the crowd dancing and bopping along to his music. He did several remixes of popular songs, including “Escape (The Pina Colada Song)“, “Baby Come Back“, and “Shining Star“, which the audience loved!

Flamingosis eased the crowd into a night full of good music, filling the venue with good beats that had everyone vibing as they milled about the venue. He sent the crowd off with some beatboxing, gaining loads of cheers from the audience! And, of course, he did a great job of getting the crowd warmed up and ready for the main act.

And now, it was time for the band everyone was waiting for! The lights darkened, and The Midnight came out onstage to roaring cheers from all across the venue. They started off with “Lonely City“, and played through the instrumentals and went straight into “Endless Summer” as lead singer Tyler Lyle walked out onstage! Following that up with “Ghost in Your Stereo” and “Neon Medusa“, they had the crowd hooked instantly.

At one point in the set, Tyler left the stage and gave the spotlight over to his bandmate Tim McEwan, the producer behind all their music. He explained the meaning behind their music, bringing the audience a bit closer to their world, and then the band played their song “Daytona“, focusing on just the music side of things for a bit. But, as they went into a crowd favorite song, “Jason“, Tim briefly jokes how it may have been written about a serial killer, to which the fans laughed before jamming out to the song.

During “Vampires“, saxophonist Justin Klunk ran out onto the barricade and played the sax directly to the fans all across the front of the venue, even bringing out one of their inflatable saxophones to give to one lucky fan as they had a little “saxophone battle” together! But then, slowing it down for “Los Angeles“, they got everyone in the venue to put their hands up and sing along. You could really feel the energy of every single person in the room that night, both on and off the stage.

As they ended out their set with their hit “Sunset“, everyone across the venue was jumping around and singing at the tops of their lungs as The Midnight gave them a show they’ll never forget!
