Photos | Review: Glass Animals Rocks Richmond With An Incredible Show On Their 'Dreamland' Tour!

When fans of the main act bring their own inflatable pineapples to bounce around overtop the pit, you know you’re in for a fun night! Glass Animals put on an incredible show at Virginia Credit Union LIVE in Richmond, Virginia with openers BLACKSTARKIDS. With this tour being Glass Animals return to live music since the pandemic, everyone in the crowd was eager to hear the band perform live and in person!

Starting off the night strong with BLACKSTARKIDS, they did what all good openers should do and got the crowd loosened and hyped up! With it being their first night on this tour, you could just feel the excitement from the band as they danced around onstage. When the band played their song “Pals” they encouraged everyone in the audience to hug their friends, and that they did! People swayed back and forth, arm in arm for the entirety of the song. Closing out their set with their newest song “ALL COPS ARE BASTARDS*”, they put on such a fun, unforgettable performance!

By the time Glass Animals took the stage, those inflatable pineapples had been dancing atop people’s heads for quite awhile, perfectly adding to the beachy, 90’s vacation-esce aesthetic brought to the amphitheater by their stage production. They opened up with “Dreamland”, the title track off their latest album, and went straight into “Life Itself” and “Tangerine”, with lead singer Dave Bayley bouncing and grooving across the stage.

The crowd was so enthusiastic during Glass Animals’ set, head banging during “The Other Side Of Paradise”, jumping for “Cane Shuga”, and dancing all night long! When the band went offstage before the encore, everyone was chanting “wavey Davey”, begging for them to come back on and give them a couple more songs. Glass Animals finished off the night strong with their hits “Tokyo Drifting” and “Heat Waves”, both of which had everyone in the venue singing along to the songs as loud as they could, and having a fantastic time!
