Photos l Review: PVRIS + Royal and The Serpent Bring Live Music Back To Baltimore!

With concerts slowly making their way back into our daily lives, every band out there is eager to get back out into the touring scene, and PVRIS is no exception! With their opener, Royal & The Serpent, both bands showed the packed crowd an amazing night. With this show likely being many people’s first concert in a very long time, the excitement in the room was palpable.

The night started when the energetic Royal & The Serpent took the stage, setting the tone for how the rest of the show would play out. Bouncing and head banging around the stage, they got the crowd hyped up with their song “Phuck You”, with both the band and the crowd jumping and flipping each other off. They even covered “Lucid Dreams” from Juice WRLD, clearly a crowd favorite. At one point in the set, the lead singer had asked who in the crowd likes girls, to which the majority of the audience’s hands shot up, which lead directly into their next song, aptly named “Girls”. Finishing the night off strong with “Overwhelmed”, a viral hit on TikTok, the crowd sang and danced along with the band.

The audience was buzzing with excitement when PVRIS took the stage, opening up strong with their latest single “Monster” and not wasting any time to show off their newest song. Continuing through their set, they played old and new songs alike, going from “St Patrick” to “Gimme A Minute”. After performing “Gimme A Minute”, lead singer Lynn Gunn reflected on how good it felt to be back putting on shows across the country, joking that it’s “been a minute, no pun intended.” PVRIS treated the audience to a couple new songs, giving fans a preview of the future of the band’s music. And when they performed their hit “Death Of Me”, the crowd sang along even louder than the music!

During the encore, while the audience was still cheering for more, an ominous voice-over boomed through the speakers. A demon, later revealed by Lynn to be named Jeff, told the audience that he was holding PVRIS captive, and would only release them if the crowd could learn and sing the lyrics to the next song better than he could. The crowd won out, screaming the lyrics and laughing along the way, and PVRIS hit the stage again for their encore! Surrounded by a rainbow of lights, they wrapped up a fantastic show with their hit “Hallucinations”.

PVRIS and Royal & The Serpent showed the people of Baltimore a great night, giving an awesome restart to live music!
