A War Within on their ups and downs, hashtags, and more

A War Within - Promo 2

CC: Can you give a brief history on how you guys all know each other and your journey to where you are now?

SM: We all somewhat met because of a past member. I’m the last of all the founding members (Spencer Mabey). Armando [Castano] flew all the way from Colombia. Nikhil [Rao] was found via forums and YouTube. Jeremy [Stebila] was introduced from a merch girl. Micah had a friend who recommended him to audition after our drummer quit on tour in May. For some of us the journey has been a lot longer. Two albums and a digital acoustic EP with 11 some videos. We are currently working on our next album.

CC: Since your release Believe in February what have been some of your most memorable moments?

SM: Touring with bands like Blessthefall, Miss May I, The Plot in You, Sirens and Sailors, Convictions and Versus. We met one of the best bands we’ve ever enjoyed touring with so far in our careers, Divisions. Without them we wouldn’t have been able to make it through the May tour. Armando being able to get on stage with Miss May I and sing one of his favorite songs with them on his birthday. We’ve had a few times since then that we’ve had to fill in for a drummer that has quit during tour. I think having being able to tour for several months this year already is a pretty big step for us without a label.

CC: What bands would you want to tour with in the future? Realistically and unrealistically?

SM: One of our all-time favorites would be Linkin Park. I’m pretty sure we’re all long time, big fans. I personally would love to tour with Motley Crue but only ’80s to ’90s versions. We would love to tour with bands like Pierce the Veil, Northlane, Falling in Reverse, Issues, Underoath, A Day to Remember, Periphery, Crown the Empire, Ice Nine Kills, Attila, Bring Me the Horizon, Asking Alexandria, The Dear Hunter, My Chemical Romance, Circa Survive, Twenty One Pilots and play Warped Tour.

CC: While on the road, what do you like to do to kill time?

SM: We’ve recently adopted crashing in Planet Fitness so we can wake up and work out before load in. There is always a shower daily to stay fresh and other than looking for food it’s the best way to stay healthy on tour.

CC: What does the rest of 2016 hold for you guys?

SM: We plan on more touring closer to fall but expect some new music real soon. 2016 should expect more of what you have already experienced. More videos, music, touring and all the things we love. Maybe another cover.

CC: If your band was a hashtag (besides your band name), what would it be?

SM: #FirstBandOnTacoBellRecords

CC: Anything else you’d like to say to your fans or anything reading this interview?

SM: Please check out our new music video Slave and all the songs off of our album ” Believe”. Don’t be a stranger, come say ‘Hi’ to us any way you can. We prefer in person at a show but well take a DM on any social media.
