3 Pill Morning talks next tour, crowdfunded new album, and more

3 Pill Morning - Promo

CC: Your sophomore album Never Look Back is out on July 29. How does this album triumph your first release?

JS: We feel like with Never Look Back we really got to write and produce the album the way we wanted it to be done. It’s heavier and darker, which is the type of album we were feeling at the time. We felt like we took our song writing to another level.

CC: What are some of the highlights on the new release?

JS: Our new single “Electric Chair” kind of sets the tone for the album. We want something that was edgy and felt live which is what we enjoy most, touring and playing our songs. Definitely “Never Look Back”, the title track is a cool song that captures that feeling of not ever knowing if you’re making the right choices in life and really how people are going to remember you when you’re gone. Have you pushed on and made an impact?

CC: You guys had a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for the album and received a little more than 140% of your initial goal. Congratulations on that. Did you ever think you were going to go over your goal by that much? How happy are you that your fans helped out so much with this? Any words you would like to say to them?

JS: We wanted to do a crowdfunding release for a couple of reasons:

1. We never felt like there was a great way to get our fans involved in the recording process, to really open up about each of us as individuals and also how grueling the album making process can be. It’s fun but it’s a lot of energy to do it right!

2. We knew we had some insanely supportive fans, but kind of wanted to prove that to everyone else, that 3PM fans are the most dedicated and are responsible for helping push us to another level. They showed how much they believe in us and our music and to accomplish the goals that we did is really amazing. It has been the difference maker for us in releasing this album.

We sincerely appreciate the help that all of our fans have given us and it is going to lead to our biggest release yet! We’re stoked!

CC: You’ll be heading out on the “Exhale Tour” with Thousand Foot Krutch, Adelita’s Way and Smashing Satellites. Is there any specific venue or city you’re looking forward to more than others? How excited are you to be on this tour?

JS: There’s actually a lot of cities we excited to get back to. Definitely Denver, Phoenix, KC, and all over Texas are highlights for us, but there’s so many more. We’ve been huge TFK fans and love Adelitas Way too, so when we got word that we were going out with them, we were really excited. We’ve gotten to know each of them a bit over our years on the road and know that every night is going to be a great show with bands that love to play music and put on a show. It’s gonna be a great time!

CC: What are some of your pre show rituals?

JS: I’ve got a little vocal warm-up ritual and we all tend to meet up for a quick high five before we hit the stage.

CC: Are you guys planning on releasing a music video for the new album any time soon?

JS: We’ve definitely got some video ideas ready to go, hoping to get one put together after this tour.

CC: What else do you guys have planned for the rest of the year?

JS: Tour, tour, tour.  We’ve got a new album and will be on the road supporting it. We can’t wait!

CC: Anything else you’d like to say to your fans or anything reading this interview?

JS: Just thanks again for supporting the band. We hope that everyone gets a chance to come out and see us live. We’ve got a lot of new music and a show that we’re excited to share with everyone!
