Waterparks Kick Off Property Tour With a Sold Out Night in Anaheim

Waterparks hysteria has officially gone into full swing. The modern day pop-punk influenced band has defied genre boundaries and landed on blurred lines when it comes to clichés and labels. With nearly every date sold out on their Property Tour, Waterparks have earned their place in the spotlight. The band launched into their tour with a sold out show at the House of Blues in Anaheim, CA. The floor was packed from wall-to-wall, even for supporting acts Daisy Grenade and HUNNY.

It is well known that Waterparks’ fandom is basically a fearless cult (said with love) — opening night proved the fandom worthy of their reputation. From tossing personalized gifts onstage to piling up on limited edition merch, these fans are some of the most dedicated I’ve seen in recent years. The front few rows were loaded with people who purchased VIP packages through Veeps that offer pre-show perks which include: a meet-n-greet, photo with the band, commemorative merch and early entry to secure those coveted barricade spots.

Waterparks hit the stage one by one, each emerging from a center runway between LED screens. Frontman Awsten Knight appeared in an oversized puffer coat with the hood over his face, prompting fans to scream out begging him to show his star-painted face. Their energy was effortless — magnetizing the crowd instantly. The connection and conversations between the band and the audience were both hysterical and entertaining. The dynamic between them both is somewhat sarcastic and passive-aggressive, but in an adoring manner. Waterparks’ stage setup and show production hit the nail on the head when it came to reflecting the aesthetic of the band and new record, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. Bright colors, bold visuals, a side staircase and cryotechnics polished off the entire performance.

With a jam packed setlist, the show highlighted some of Waterparks’ best tracks from prior albums. Just about half of the roster consisted of songs from INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, many which were debut live performances. We were a bit disappointed they didn’t play “SELF-SABOTAGE,” but we have a hunch they may be saving that live debut for a special show later in the tour (wink wink). Take a look at their full setlist below:

  1. ST*RFUCKER
  2. Numb
  3. Rare
  4. Stupid for You
  5. Crave
