The 2014 Vans Warped Tour started in June and will conclude in August as it always does. The Pomona stop of the summer long tour made its way to the Pomona Fairplex with a slew of bands from many genres.
Here are some of the bands’ performances described in 10 words or less.
Early set. Massive breakdowns. Powerful Mattie Montgomery. Very preachy.
“Reunited and it feels so good…”
Ladies love these guys. Massive crowd for a side stage.
Crazy onstage antics. Crazy crowd antics.
“Go Kings, go!” Audible crowd singing. Exciting stage presence.
Fan made setlist. Dirt filled air. Old and new TDWP.
Loud and aggressive on and off stage.
Audio difficulties. Unusual crowd involvement. Loud playback from band.
Underrated band. Poor choice of stage placement. Much audience involvement.
Massive running pit. Loud crowd singing. Superb setlist.
Great new lead screamer. Unusual clean vocalist. Powerful breakdowns.
The real big problem with the show was that many people waited until after 12 p.m. to finally enter the venue. There is an option for attendees to donate five canned goods or $5 cash to get a wristband for early entry. But this happened even after doors opened at 11 a.m., so the general line for those that did not provide a donation had to wait until the other line completely stopped.
There should really be a limit of how many of these bands are sold on the day of the show. An option could be to donate $5 online and get a printed verification so fans can simply show it rather than wait in line to get a wristband.
Like they have done previous years, both lines should be let in together once the clock strikes 11 a.m. Fans that do not wish to donate should not be penalized from their Warped Tour experience right off-the-bat.
