Living legend of rock music, Slash, and his favorite guitar maker, Gibson, are taking their relationship to a new level! Is it a global brand ambassadorship? Nope, they already did that back in 2017. This time around, they’re announcing a flagship record deal!
Gibson and Slash: The Story Continues
In an official statement released on July 26th, 2021, the Guns N’ Roses guitarist announced his new solo deal with Gibson Records. The 127-year-old guitar brand, with help from a label partnership with BMG, is launching its label in Nashville, TN. In the statement, Gibson sees its label as “the next major step contributing to the evolution of collaborative artist partnerships.”
On the deal, Slash expressed his gratitude: “It’s an honor to be the first release on the new, Gibson Records. It’s a zenith in our partnership for sure and having worked so closely with Gibson for so long, I know they will be a label that genuinely supports their artists creatively. Not just me, but all the artists they choose to work with. It’s perfect.”
Gibson Brands’ Brand President, Cesar Gueikian, agreed: “Gibson Records will keep all of us at Gibson focused on our artist first culture that is engaged and connected to music. We are excited to launch Gibson Records, to announce that SLASH is our first signed artist and that we have entered into a label partnership with BMG.”
The Return of the Conspirators (and Myles Kennedy)
Consequently, the launch brings the exciting announcement of a new album from Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators! The long-named band will mark its tenth anniversary with their yet-to-be-titled fourth LP in early 2022. All four of the top-hatted guitarist’s bandmates will return to their posts (Myles Kennedy on vocals, Todd “Dammit” Kerns on bass, Brent Fitz on drums, and Frank Sidoris on rhythm guitar).
For those who just can’t wait until 2022 to see Slash join with Kennedy and the Conspiring trio, however, you’re in luck! Coincidentally, an unorthodox SMK&C mini-reunion is coming to Guns N’ Roses’ summer 2021 tour, which starts on July 31st at Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, PA. Get there early, because Frank Sidoris will be on rhythm guitar in Wolfgang Van Halen’s Mammoth WVH to open every show!
