Americana/Bluegrass trio Devil Makes Three is nearing the end of its 2020 Winter Tour which includes stops in 18 cities in January and February. On Tuesday, February 4, the band brings its unique mixture of Bluegrass, Blues, Folk, Country, and Rock to the Vinyl Music Hall in Pensacola, Florida. The tour features band members Pete Bernhard – lead vocals / guitar and Cooper McBean banjo/guitar, along with MorganEve Swain – standup bass, who is replacing Lucia Turino on this tour.
The band’s debut album Devil Makes Three was released in 2002. The album was re-released in 2007 and reached #7 on the US Bluegrass Charts. Subsequent releases included:
Longjohns, Boots and a Belt (2003)
A Little Bit Faster and a Little Bit Worse (2006)
Do Wrong Right (2009)
Stomp and Smash (2011)
I’m a Stranger Here (2013)
Redemption & Ruin (2016)
with Do Wrong Right, and Redemption & Ruin both reaching #1 on the Bluegrass charts.
Chains are Broken (2018) is the band’s latest release which debuted in the top ten on the US Bluegrass Charts and peaked at #1. It marks a departure from the band’s all acoustic sound with the introduction of electric guitars and drums. With a 60’s rock feel and a touch of Rockabilly thrown in, Bernhard sounds almost Dylanesque at times. The album has garnered widespread acclaim from the likes of Entertainment Weekly, American Songwriter, The Boston Globe and more.
Devil Makes Three along with opening act Matt Heckler perform at 8:00 PM on February 4 at the Vinyl Music Hall.
