On Thursday, March 3rd, 2022, Shinedown debuted their music video of their title track single “Planet Zero”. In the video, all 4 members of Shinedown find themselves in an area that appears to be curated by cancel culture and distorted reality. As the members of the band get acquainted to this new reality, Brent Smith (Singer) finds himself to be caught in a tight space, and as the video progresses, he finds his settings to be closing in on him. During this time, the members find themselves to be censored by having their eyes and mouths blurred out periodically.
In the video, the band also finds themselves questioning their surroundings. Wondering if this is real or just an illusion. Wondering if they are trapped or is this something they can escape from. At the end of the video (Interlude), they find themselves wandering and discovering a desert area just outside the facility they were in, and are greeted by an A.I named “Cyren”.
The song describes what cancel culture has been doing to us, by distorting our reality to thinking we need to conform to these New Standards when all it is really doing is destroying humanity internally. It is no secret that the pandemic and other world events in recent years have had a strong influence on the song, music video, and album. “Planet Zero” as a whole is about how doomed humanity will be if we do not change our current ways but will also consist of songs of hope and restoration of faith in humanity.
“Planet Zero” is currently #1 in the Billboard Charts, making it Shinedowns’ 17th #1 Single. Shinedown currently holds the record for most #1 singles in the Billboard mainstream rock charts in the past 40 years.

The album Planet Zero will be available on July 1st, 2022 on all major streaming platforms. The album is also available for Pre-Order from the official Shinedown Webstore and major retail/indie record stores.
