Photos / Review: Corrosion of Conformity and Red Fang Opening for Black Label Society at Worcester Palladium Worcester, Massachusetts

Who: Corrosion of Conformity and Red Fang opening for Black Label Society

Where: The Palladium, Worcester, Massachusetts

When: February 1, 2018

Red Fang and Corrosion of Conformity came to the Worcester Palladium on February 1, 2018, to open up for Black Label Society.

The venue was absolutely packed before Red Fang even got on stage. I assumed that the majority of the audience had gotten there early to secure a good spot for Black Label Society, but Red Fang had a decent amount of their own fans in the audience themselves. One man in the pit was really enthusiastically headbanging and singing along with every single word. The audience all enjoyed themselves, as did I. Red Fang has a great sound and both vocalists have great voices. They had a strong connection with the audience from the beginning to the end and the energy stayed consistent. They were one of those few bands who got better the longer they were on stage; I did not feel weary of their set. I was entranced by them and had a lot of fun headbanging along with the audience.

Corrosion of Conformity went on next. The audience was even more hyped up at this point following Red Fang’s set and Corrosion did not disappoint. They also had a large number of fans in the audience that were singing along with every word. I loved their entrance onstage. The bass player came out first and got his own little solo before the drummer and then the rest of the band came out. I usually see the drummer coming out first, so I loved seeing something different. It also showed how strong the bass player was and how important the bass player is in a band. The guitar was absolutely excellent, just what you would expect from a band touring with Zakk Wylde, as were the vocals. Corrosion really gave a top-notch performance and made a lot of new fans in the audience.

Overall, both bands opening for Black Label Society left a lasting impression on me and I would go see both bands again in a heartbeat.
