It was nothing but good times and good vibes at The Regent in Los Angeles, CA. The small venue echoed with the sounds of alternative rock, pop and indie folk; making it a memorable Thursday night.
Opening up the night was up-and-coming band Half The Animal who are known for their hit song “Babylon,” a viral sensation. They have also been gaining momentum with airplay on local stations like ALT 98.7 and KROQ, becoming a band to look out for. The most memorable thing from their show at The Regent was when they performed a cover of Childish Gambino’s “Redbone.” It was notably one of the best covers of that song that I have heard, so good, that it sent chills down my spine when front man Chase Johnson hit all the high notes in all the right ways. Catch their new hit single, “Bad Bad Love” on Spotify and fall in love with this dance-worthy band.
Next to have performed was the Los Angeles formed band: Magic Giant. The best thing about this indie folk trio is that they can make any room feel positive and intimate. They can expand the size of the stage by dancing and singing alongside people in the crowd — lifting you up from whatever gloomy mood you may be experiencing with songs like “Set on Fire” and “Great Divide.” They are a group filled with artists that care about your experience and tailor each of their shows to be just as grand as the one before. You do not want to miss out on seeing them live, so catch them on tour while you still can!
Headlining the show was Australian-based band Atlas Genius, who are known for their hit songs “Trojans” and “Back Seat.” Both songs were performed Thursday as they kept the crowd dancing and grooving all through the night. The band also performed their newest single “63 Days” which represents more than just a song, but a campaign. The song represents their “63 DAYS OF LOVE” campaign where they want you to make a 63 day commitment in spreading compassion and kindness. You can spread the love by sharing what they call a “soul stare” with someone, post it to your social media page and use #63DAYSOFLOVE.
