Japanese rock band ONE OK ROCK are international superstars — so it was no surprise when they sold out their final show at The Hollywood Palladium last week. The band played a grueling 20 shows over a span of 29 days. They hit all corners of the United States and everywhere in between. The entrance line wrapped around the venue spilling onto Sunset Boulevard and even further around the next corner. The venue was packed with a record-breaking merch line that extended from just inside the entrance door all the through the inside of the general admission area. With support from Fame On Fire and You Me At Six, the audience was revved up and ready for a night of bursting energy and feel-good riffs.
The tour, named after the band’s newest album, consisted mostly of songs from Luxury Disease, which was released about a month prior on September 9, 2022. ONE OK ROCK kicked off their set with “Save Yourself” — the first track from Luxury Disease that has already racked up over 12 million streams in just a little over its first month. The remainder of the setlist contained songs from Ambitions (2017) and Eye of the Storm (2019). A few highlights included “Taking Off” and “Renegades” — both receiving extra loud reception.
The crowd was singing just as loud as the vocals coming through the speakers, not missing a single lyric. The energy radiating between both the band and audience was uplifting and full of pure bliss. Each member exuded both talent and gratitude for the massive support. ONE OK ROCK is known for their unified and dedicated fanbase, which was notable throughout the show. The entire front row of then-strangers instantly became friends bonding over their favorite band. They closed out the night with their smash hit “American Girls” — which set the encore scene perfectly given the fact this was the first time in over 3 years they have performed in America.
