Earlier his week, Of Mice & Men released their brand new song and video for “Pain”. As many of you already know the band has been touring with Slipknot and Marilyn Manson. That fact is apparent in this song.
OM&M have exchanged their melodic vocals for a more metal sound, similar to that of their touring mates. It’s obvious that they are trying to expand their fan base and appeal to the new crowd they are playing to every night.
In my opinion, “Pain” sounds almost identical to something that Manson would put out. Even the music video is so similar to one of Manson’s newer videos, such as “Deep Six”, only much more boring. Sure, “Pain” is a decent song, but this just screams a bit too “try-hard”. Every band has to evolve to stay relevant and I’m not sure if this was the right way to go for them.
