Concert Crap: What is the significance behind who Moscow is?
I never put on any character. Moscow is me. I am Moscow. Turned out I’m quite a character by myself, so Moscow became more of a common noun than a proper noun. Bringing rock music back to the mainstream has always felt like destiny for me to follow.
CC: Can you talk about a brief history of you and music?
Born and raised in Moscow, traveled the world, lived in Cambridge, London, New York – I was always following what my heart told me. And rock was always the answer. Being influenced by rock gods like Motley Crue, Led Zeppelin, etc., I was always dreaming about times when those masters were ruling the world, speaking to generations of kids. I always wanted to be one of them. Music equals life to me, I can’t even think of myself separately from music.
CC: Your first single “Queen of Sin” is out now. Can you talk about the song and the process behind writing and creating it?
The original meaning behind the “Queen of Sin” comes from Nietzsche’s philosophy that you are your own god and your own devil, you are in charge of your own morals, so don’t be scared to listen to your own Queen pf Sin which we all have deep inside.
CC: You just put out the video for the song. How was it making that video?
Fantastic. I was lucky enough to find people who are on the same page as I am – whether it be my producers, my music video director, or my band. I like to do things fast when it comes to work. The songs were written and recorded in six days, and a week after I was already on set for the music video. I insisted on shooting it at the infamous Whisky A Go Go, the place I used to read about when I was young, the place that holds the history of rock ‘n’ roll inside of it. Also, our showcase is gonna be held at Whisky a Go Go on February 6th.
CC: What is the best and worst thing about Los Angeles?
I love pretty much everything about Los Angeles. From the amount of homeless on Hollywood Boulevard, to the spectacular sunrises on the Santa Monica Pier. This is the place I call home now. I would say that it’s also a great place for networking if you’re in any performance career. But you have to be smart about it, and keep your work on point. The worst thing is probably loneliness, which I see in people on a daily basis. Most move to California, chasing their dreams, leaving everything behind, but you have to stay strong if you choose this journey. I see so many people who are either trapped in a relationship they don’t want to be in, or lost in a party scene, forgetting what they came here for in the first place. Stay strong and don’t lose yourself, that will be my advice.
CC: When can we expect a full length album?
We’re having a showcase on February 6th at the Whisky A Go Go, and then planning on going to the studio again then hitting the road. Thats what I see myself doing for the rest of my life so I don’t like to put time frames around it. But keep your eyes open, we’re here to stay.
CC: What are you hoping to accomplish in the rest of 2017?
As I said, time frames are not for me. I put up goals for myself every day and work to accomplish them to create new ones, that’s the beauty of life – to always move towards that one ultimate goal and never stop.
CC: Why should people care about Moscow?
If you like rock, if you like music, if you like sex, if you like women, if you like attitude, if you like style – you’ll hear about me anyhow. “Go Big or Go Home” is my life motto, so everything I do should goes with a BANG!
CC: Is there anything else you would like to say to your fans or anyone else at all?
Keep your eyes, ears and mouths open for more Moscow. And get ready to rock 2017 with us.
