With four previous sold-out California shows behind them, Interpol closed out the California portion of their tour with another sold-out evening, this time at the House of Blues in San Diego on September 24.
Even with the band’s strong notoriety, they choose intimate settings and this venue was perfect.
With a stage so close, fans reached out in attempts to touch them.
Much like the Pomona shows, the band altered the setlist. Six of the band’s 17 songs were off their new album.
Even though the band had met with fans the previous two evenings in Pomona, they did not meet with fans after this show, which disappointed some.
Rey Pila opened for the band once again, sounding much clearer with the venue’s smaller room. The sound stayed within the crowd and did not disperse throughout the rest of the venue as it does at the Fox Theater in Pomona.
If you’re not familiar with the area, the San Diego House of Blues is located in Downtown San Diego, where streets are littered with pedestrians, parking is hard to come by and very expensive. So be prepared to get road rage.
