Legendary emo vets Fall Out Boy hit BMO Stadium in Los Angeles for the first of two sold out shows last week in celebration of their newest album So Much (for) Stardust. With a stacked supporting lineup of Royal and the Serpent, New Found Glory and Bring Me The Horizon, the show was undoubtedly a stellar bill roughly covering recent decades: 2000s (NFG), 2010s (BMTH) and 2020s (RATS). With a surprise appearance by Demi Lovato (with RATS) and ton of familiar faces from music and movies amongst the crowd, night one was nothing short of an amazing escape from reality.

Royal and the Serpent thrilled with their moody grunge that hit us right in our little alt hearts. They played 10 songs two which were covers “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana and “Eat Me” by Demi Lovato, who joined them on stage as well. New Found Glory oozed pure pop punk nostalgia with an 8 song setlist, consisting mostly of songs from their iconic album Sticks and Stones. Still packed with energy, the guys had plenty of jumps and classic stage presence that we’ve always known and loved from them.

Some may say Bring Me The Horizon could be considered the outcasts of the lineup, but we beg to differ. Frontman Oli Sykes had impeccable crowd control and truly turned up the intensity across the stadium with a contrasting yet enrapturing heavier metal element. We personally loved the punch of power behind their sound and offered fans of Fall Out Boy an unforgettable experience and possibly introducing them to a new genre.

After an evening of endless hype from supporting artists, the time finally arrived for Fall Out Boy’s set. Emerging with dramatic pyro effects that fired in sync with each song, the performance bar was already set high. Not only were the visual effects stunning (Pete’s flamethrower bass anyone?) the setlist was one for the books. Fans were gifted with two magic 8-ball songs: “G.I.N.A.S.F.S.” and “America’s Suitehearts” (which hasn’t been played live in 14 years). The astounding 29 song set featured some of the best hits from albums across Fall Out Boy’s career including a classic oldskool encore of “Saturday” to close out the night.

We were feeling nostalgic throughout the entire show and highly recommend catching Fall Out Boy on this tour, especially if it’s been a while… you won’t be disappointed.
