Musical mastermind Charlie Puth played his final date on the One Night Only Tour this week in Los Angeles at The Theatre at Ace Hotel DTLA. You probably know Charlie from one of his numerous chart topping hits or his viral TikTok videos — but, we hope that you’ll further remember him from his live act and most recent album, CHARLIE, if you don’t already. I had the exclusive opportunity to capture and experience Charlie’s live showcase of brand new songs on the last stop of the tour — which was a handful of just eight shows across the U.S. and Canada.

The venues booked across this tour all held historically significant prominence within music and performing arts… The Theatre at the Ace Hotel was no exception. Originally opened in 1927, its intricate Spanish Gothic design served as the perfect atmosphere to host such an intimate performance. With a full house of friends, fans and industry faces, Charlie brought his live band for a night to remember.

Kicking off the set with “Charlie Be Quiet!” followed few others from CHARLIE, the theatre lit up with pure joy. The audience swooned over each remarkably catchy track, attentively listening to Charlie’s stories and banter. Walking us through inspiring recollections, he introduced us to each new song and painted a picture of how they all came to be. Per his TikTok, he retold the tale of how his song “No More Drama” originated. (Hint: it involves a creaky door — watch the video for yourself here, but try not to fall down the rabbit hole of all of his other alluring content.) He also performed mega-hits “Left and Right,” “Attention,” and “One Call Away” as well as a stripped down cover of “Stay” by The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber (did we mention Charlie actually co-wrote it?) The crowd absorbed every moment of Charlie’s narration and performance as time seemed to vanish into thin air — then suddenly, it was the last song. Concluding with “See You Again,” we were all sent off into blissful haze for the remainder of our night.

Charlie’s infectious energy, charming disposition and musical aptitude is a genuine triple threat — a strong contender for one of the best artists I’ve had the pleasure of seeing live. His talent for songwriting, production, performance and everything in between is distinguishably immeasurable. I am confident Charlie will be back in the future, so don’t miss out on his next stop in a city near you. In the meantime, be sure to listen to CHARLIE on these streaming platforms.
