Concert Review: Thrice Play Sold Out Show in Anaheim, California

On Saturday, November 17, 2018 Thrice stopped by in Anaheim to play a sold-out show at the House of Blues. Joining them for the show was The Bronx and Teenage Wrist. Thrice is one of my favorite bands and I was very excited to hear them perform some of their new stuff, live.

The Anaheim show was the second to last stop on the tour that Thrice just completed. As I stated above Teenage Wrist and The Bronx opened the show. I didn’t have a chance to see Teenage Wrist but I was able to catch The Bronx. Having only heard of them before and never listening to them, I was excited to see them play. I was not disappointed because they brought so much energy to the stage! They play a pretty long set and then Thrice was up next.

Thrice played a really solid mix of newer songs as well as some old stuff that wouldn’t normally be on the setlist. They opened the show with “Only Us” from their newest album Palms. After that, they went into “Image Of The Invisible” from the album Vhiessu.

As the night progressed they jumped around from album to album quite a lot, one of the most exciting moments was when they played the songs, “Daedalus” and “Firebreather” from The Alchemy Index. They don’t normally play these very often and the whole crowd was singing along very loudly.

The final song before the encore was the final track from the new album “Beyond The Pines”.  The song is on the calmer side but it made for a good way to wind down the set before the encore. Not only did it sound really good but it also showcased how great of a voice Dustin Kensrue has.

The whole show was amazing from start to finish and each band brought their A game. Thrice played a long set and managed to hit almost all of their albums along the way. The production and the lights added another element and just made the whole show one to remember.

Thrice will be going on tour with Bring Me The Horizon and the Fever 333 in 2019, so make sure to check that out!
