CITRA – Up and Coming Rock Band from Denver, Colorado

The unfortunate phrase “Rock music is dead” has been heard around the country for years. Recently, we’ve seen a rise in rock acts across the nation. Since moving to Denver a year ago, I have been amazed at the local talent in the area. More recently, I stumbled upon the band CITRA and I am happy to tell you, rock music is far from dead.

I attended a CITRA show at HQ in downtown Denver. As soon as the band walked on stage, we felt the excitement they have for their craft. The first thing I noticed was the grin from ear to ear on drummer Mauricio Jara. He was ready to be the heartbeat of the show. As the first song began, the music coming from the amps pulsed through me. I knew this set would have amazing energy.

CITRA’s frontman Brandon Arndt immediately captivated the crowd with his vocals. When he isn’t multitasking by playing guitar and singing, Brandon can draw the audience in just by lifting a finger.

Throughout the show, CITRA has rocking instrumental breakdowns and guitar solos from Augie Menos. Of course, you can’t forget bassist Sean Slattery, who dominated those bass lines. I admired the fact that they didn’t take away from the musical aspect with lyrics that may not be necessary in a song.

Towards the end of the show, the entire crowd was jumping along to the beat. An attendee even busted out the worm because the show was that much fun.

To top it off, the gentlemen in CITRA are skilled enough to provide their own lights that they programmed entirely themselves. It was truly the icing on the cake to present the best show possible to all that came to see.

I have genuinely enjoyed discovering local bands. I think it is special to be able to follow a band’s success. These guys have all the potential to make it big, and I can’t wait to see what is in store for their future.

If you are in the Denver area, be sure to be on the look out for their future shows!
