Alright y’all, if you read my last post you know that I said I’ve gotten into a ton of new music lately. This one has got to take the cake by far, and I’m so stoked to share this band with you.
Origami Angel. Signed by Counter Intuitive records, this indie alternative group is from Washington D.C. and deserve all the sold out shows in the world. Everything that they put out is so unique in its own way, and so much fun. While they have lyrics in their songs about Taco Bell, Pokemon, and Danny Phantom, the band also has plenty of songs that will get you in your feels from their deep lyrics.
The band released Gami Gang, their second full length album (and it’s a double album!) on April 30. This album is nothing less than an absolute masterpiece, if you listen to the entire album in order it flows so perfectly that you can’t even tell that the next song has begun to play. I’ve had this album on repeat for weeks, and I never grow tired of it. While hard to make song recommendations because they all are just that good, I would have to say if you aren’t going to listen in order, to at least check out “Mobius Chicken Strip”, “You Won’t”, or “Blanket Statement”.
Gami Gang is composed of 20 songs for a total of 51 minutes, and I highly recommend that you spend 51 minutes of your day listening to this entire album in order.
I feel like it is a bold statement to call this band avant garde, but after hearing some songs off their older releases, I think it fits. Check out “Roo B / Olympic Hi Dive” for a good example of this.
Other honorable song mentions from their past releases are “666 Flags”, “Say Less” and “Doctor Whomst”.
