American Authors Lift The Spirit with Their Latest Album Best Day of My Life

In 2013, American Authors released their hit song “Best Day of My Life” which went to #1 on the Billboard Adult Pop Airplay chart. Flash forward a decade and now the band is back with their new album, Best Night of My Life.

This is not a sequel to the hit song, but it does channel the same theme of optimism and positivity. Let’s face it. We live in a very cynical society, filled with negativism and conflict. A lot of artists echo this in their music attempting to connect with listeners, making them feel that they’re not alone in their issues. Very few artists are taking the contrary view of looking at the life from a positive perspective and this is where Best Night of My Life breaks from the mainstream.

“We wanted to write classic up-tempo American Authors songs,” says vocalist Zac Barnett. “It was a conscious decision. We agreed, ‘Let’s not pay attention to what other musicians are doing; let’s just do what American Authors does best—which is hopeful feel-good music’.”

Barnett and the band accomplished their goal. The songs on Best Night of My Life are filled with upbeat, positive energy. Even the titles such as “Best Day of My Life”, “We Happy”, “Live On”, and “Good Times” are positive and uplifting. The music is filled with bright sounding ukuleles and acoustic guitars which provide the backing for the buoyant messaging in the lyrics.

“The three of us wanted to create the most ‘American Authors’ album we’ve ever done,” Zac leaves off. “There are Easter eggs for our fans, but it’s meant to be hopeful. This band is my best friends. We’ve had great times and some not-so great times…I’ve loved every minute of it though. I can’t wait for what’s next.”
