The Mylars’ debut album Melody Records combines a classic 70s rock sound with modern elements of pop and timeless lyrics to create a very attractive album. “Shine” is a single that reminds me more of that 70s sound because of the guitar, which is something I love to listen to. “12 minutes” also has some of that classic sound, especially with the “whoa,” whereas “Forever Me” brings in a little bit more of a pop sound, but balances it out with more of that 70s guitar.
The Mylars did a really good job of blending the classic with the modern on this album. It doesn’t sound dated, nor does it blend in with all of the music you hear today; it’s an album you can play on the radio with the hits of today or of decades past and it’ll find its unique spot. It’s also an album that will appeal to multiple generations because it has elements from each generation of music in it. Overall, it’s a really fun album that makes me want to roll my windows down and turn the volume up. This album actually gets extra points from me because I was listening to it as I was working and it put me in the right state of mind, so if you need to do work or homework, this is the album to play.
