If you like Muse, you’ll love Molehill. The Illinois based alt-rock band is releasing their three song EP on May 12. This will be their third release.
“Hearts on Fire” is an energetic song, speaking about a common people rising up to overpower the oppressive regime.
“Old Soldier” chronicles an old soldier’s last days spent in a nursing home in a beautiful, slow song.
“Reverie” speaks of a parent lost. Through the sadness, however, it also acknowledges the role of the parent in shaping one’s character.
The lyrics in each song tell a story and each song has a story of its own, yet it all flows together. The entire album relies heavily on synth, but not to the point that it overwhelms the enjoyment of the music. Rather, it gives the EP the feeling that the songs are all interconnected and all part of one larger, greater narrative. This is definitely an EP that will get stuck in your head, all while making you think about the world we live in.
