Album Review: Assuming We Survive – “Chapters” EP

On October 12, Assuming We Survive officially released their EP, Chapters. They were on the final Vans Warped Tour, and they were selling physical copies of the CD while on the road, so some lucky fans had been able to listen to it for the last few months.

The EP starts off fast with “Make It Out Alive.” “Just So You Know” is catchy, with a nice beat. This is a song that a lot of people relate to, with a story being told within, and lyrics like the chorus, “just so you know, you are not alone. There’s a million of us full of broken hearts, just waiting to be loved.” “Tear Me” is a bit heavier than the other songs on the album. It’s followed up with “Searching,” which is softer, especially compared to the previous song. “Let You Down,” has an upbeat sound that’s somewhat typical of pop-punk song, with lyrics that match it perfectly. The EP closes with “California Stoned,” a pretty fun song that should make everybody want to jump along.

Assuming We Survive is one of those bands that seems to be always touring, playing with a ton of different bands in the scene over the years. They just finished a headlining tour across the western US, and they will be heading out east soon. Their tour dates can be found here. Chapters can be purchased on iTunes here, and on Amazon here.
