Supergroups have been a part of rock history since the ’60s with groups like Cream, Traveling Wilburys, Temple of the Dog and last year’s L.S. Dunes. Now 2023 starts off with another, World Gone Cold. The band is comprised of bassist Traa Daniels (P.O.D), drummer Tim “Yogi” Watts (Demon Hunter), guitarist Andrew Stanton (Disciple), guitarist Mark Anthony (The Letter Black), and vocalist Ryland Raus (Attack Attack! & Inhale/Exhale)
The band is releasing their self-titled debut EP on March 17th via Rockfest Records. Each member’s influence can be heard on the EP. The musical style combines rock, metalcore, hardcore, pop, and rock with Raus’ screams and soaring clean vocals over heavy guitars and loud drums. Leading up to the EP’s release, the band released “Apology” and “Opposites Attract”.
“‘Apology’ was one of the first things we wrote”, says Raus. “It is a free fall of emotion and true grit. I feel like this song showcases the group’s individual talents very clearly.”
Raus shares, “‘Opposites Attract’ was an easy choice for our first single. It’s all of our favorites on the EP and it’s the strongest representation of World Gone Cold’s sound. We’ve been waiting so long to release these songs and we can’t wait for everyone to finally hear this music.”
Each of the songs is unique and has a different feel. Raus says, “This is a very diverse collection of songs. The writing seemed to come very natural for us. There was no strain or argument for what the sound became it just kind of kept evolving from song to song. It felt as if we were on some sort of quest to keep blending and manipulating the boundaries of modern metal and pop combined. There was no shame in this process. Each member added their own vibe unapologetically and I think that clearly shows throughout the EP.”
World Gone Cold is out on March 17.
