We Came As Romans Take Over Anaheim with ERRA and Brand of Sacrifice

We Came As RomansDarkbloom Tour rolled through Anaheim last weekend, drawing a massive audience. With support from ERRA and Brand of Sacrifice, the heaviness of the show definitely exceeded our expectations. The month long tour circled around the country hitting most major cities. The tour will conclude in their hometown of Detroit on February 18th — did we mention every single date was sold out?

The parking garage at the House of Blues was jammed up an hour ahead of the first opening band (Brand of Sacrifice) was set to take the stage. It isn’t as common to see people showing up extra early to make sure they don’t miss the first opening act. As someone who has seen them live before, this was a no brainer. Brand of Sacrifice are an distinguishably heavy and distinctive sounding band (technical slamming brutal deathcore to be exact) — with an exceptional stage presence that hits every corner on the map. From using the Pokemon theme song as an entrance to thrashing across stage to what seems like quadruple bass drums, Brand of Sacrifice truly started off this show with a ground shaking bang.

Southern-formed metalcore rockers ERRA also served as support. With some big electronic-meets-metalcore sounds, ERRA hit the stage with a powerful and well-received performance. As the second band on the roster, they kept the energy boosted for the highly anticipated headliners. The toss up between EDM and deathcore paved a perfect path to We Came As Romans, whose sound tucks somewhere sweetly in the middle.

We Came As Romans crushed their show from the moment they stepped onstage. Vocalist Dave Stephens jumped into the crowd almost right away. With an immediate crowd uproar, blasts of confetti fell from the rafters elevating the atmosphere even more. The majority of the setlist contained tracks from the tour-titled album, Darkbloom, while also playing tracks from Cold Like War and Tracing Back Roots. Mid-show the crowd voted on the next track: “Ghosts” vs. “Fade Away” — with “Fade Away” being the winner. The guys wrapped their show with a slamming performance of “Darkbloom” which featured a second onstage appearance from Brand of Sacrifice. This show was packed from wall to wall, with echoes of cheering and circle pits flowing the entire night.
