The Babyklok Tour Wraps in LA with Metal Madness For All

Last week, YouTube Theater in Los Angeles was set ablaze by a unique fusion of heavy metal and Japanese pop culture as the Babyklok Tour kicked off its two-night closeout. The evening featured two extraordinary acts, each bringing their own distinct flair to the stage — BABYMETAL and Dethklok. With support from mind-blowing guitarist Jason Richardson, the night was off to an energized start.

First up were the sensational Tokyo natives, BABYMETAL. This trio has carved out a niche for themselves in the world of metal by introducing their own genre, the ever-enchanting “kawaii metal.” The stage transformed into a mesmerizing world of vibrant lights and captivating visuals. Their onstage costumes were undeniably striking — blending the cute and the fierce with a touch of avant garde. Their iconic mixture of fashion accessories perfectly encapsulated the juxtaposition of innocence and empowerment that characterizes Babymetal’s music.

The KAMI BAND accompanied BABYMETAL as usual, dressed in dark-themed creature masks, set the tone for the performance. The crowd was treated to a thrilling display of choreography, with the band’s energy and stage presence being nothing short of breathtaking. Their setlist, featuring 12 songs primarily from their self-titled album and Metal Galaxy, was a rollercoaster of excitement. With hard-hitting anthems and catchy melodies, BABYMETAL had the audience headbanging and singing along in unison. They all interacted with the ecstatic crowd through the entirety of the show, making sure their loyal fanbase was engaged from the very first note to the final bow. The connection between the band and the audience created an electrifying atmosphere that left everyone craving more.

As the stage reset, the audience eagerly awaited the start of Dethklok. Originally an animated band from the Adult Swim series Metalocalypse, Dethklok defied expectations by taking the form of real, live musicians. The stage was shrouded in darkness, with the band members mostly concealed in the shadows, allowing the crowd to immerse themselves in the monumental, original animation displayed behind them. Dethklok showcased their versatility, not just as a fictional melodic death metal band but as a true live experience. The animations paired with the live performance was nothing short of jaw-dropping, adding a surreal layer of narration to their music.
