Concert Crap: You guys are currently on a tour supporting Millencolin across Canada. How have the first few dates been?

Jon Markson: The first few dates of this tour have been a pleasure. It’s been unreal to realize my wildest dream; doing a couple of 360 flips in a warehouse while Millencolin play “No Cigar”.

We’ve been able to meet up with some great friends along the way already – hanging with The Flatliners in Toronto and playing with Authority Zero last night at “Music 4 Cancer” Fest right outside of Montreal.

CC: What are your favorite things about Canada?

JM: Poutine. Living with Lions. The Flatliners, Poutine.

Poutine.

The punk community is extremely supportive and energized by music. This is our third cross Canadian tour. We have previously came across with Strung Out, A Wilhelm Scream, and The Flatliners and we’ve been itching to come back and hit a ton of Canadian cities that are a little more difficult for us to get to. We’ve played tons of great Ontario and Quebec shows over the years so it’s great to hit the rest!

CC: Besides your hometown, what is your favorite city to play?

JM: There is no single one. Over this past year some is my favorite shows have been this past Pouzza fest with Belvedere, our co-headliner with Pears at St. Vitus in Brooklyn, or Punk Rock Holiday in Slovenia this past summer.

CC: You guys just put out a reissue of your 2010 EP Pedestals. Why did you decide to put this out again?

JM: This is a project that we’ve been working on for a long time. There were a couple of driving factors that made us really pursue the project.

We were never completely stoked about the way that Pedestals sounded – so getting a fresh mix and perspective on the release helped present it in a new light.

Pedestals, as well as our split EPs with Into it. Over it. and A Loss For Words, have also been out of digital and physical distribution for a couple of years, so we were happy to give them a repress.

The project got shelved a few times since we wanted to focus on our last LP and other touring that we’ve done. We had been talking to our friend Garrett at Bird Attack Records and he was enthusiastic about us getting it out there. He’s been putting out some really ripping punk records from both classic and newer bands.

CC: Are you working on new music?

JM: We have a new EP finished and we are writing for an LP.

CC: When can your fans expect that?

JM: I don’t want to give too much away!

CC: What does the rest of 2016 have in store for you guys?

JM: We got a good amount more touring before the end of the year. After this run of shows with Millencolin we are playing a bunch or cities in the US we haven’t hit since 2014, including the Descendents and Modern Baseball show in San Francisco. We’re definitely looking forward to The Fest as well.
