Wisconsin folk singer-songwriter Billy Bronsted recently released a new song called “My Old Man”. It’s the first single from his album This Bed Of Mine.

“My Old Man” starts off with an acoustic guitar and has a calm feel to it. Billy comes in with the vocals and a piano subtly enters the song as well. When the chorus comes around, the song becomes more powerful. The vocals pick up, there’s string instruments and the previously heard guitar and piano. The additional instruments really help tie the song all together.

“My Old Man” is an ode to Billy’s dad. He sings about impressing his dad and how his dad taught him things growing up. Because of the subject matter of this song, I think it’s highly relatable for a lot of people.

Combining the classic elements of folk music with relatable lyrics is something that Billy Bronsted seems to do really well. I recommend listening to “My Old Man” and checking out some of Billy’s other music as well.
