Photos / Review : ALT 98.7’s Throwback Fiesta was Pure 90s Nostalgia, and I Loved It!

Who: ALT 98.7 The Woody Show’s Throwback Fiesta – Royal Machines, Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, Spin Doctors, Eve 6

Where: The Queen Mary, Long Beach, California

When: June 3, 2017

From embarrassed tweens, to nostalgic 90s kids, ALT 98.7’s Throwback Fiesta was a reminiscent event for all ages at The Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. Take a walk down memory lane with me as I recap on Royal Machines, Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, Spin Doctors and Eve 6!

Opening up for the mid-day event was rock band, Eve 6 with songs like “Inside Out”  and “Here’s to the Night” that got the flashbacks of my youthful angst kicking in. In the crowd, you can see parents embarrassing their tweens with their “youthful” dance moves. Catch the band on tour in a city near you this summer.

Spin Doctors were up next, and they brought on the fancy footwork as well as their blues-inspired rock ‘n’ roll. The band performed majestically to the building crowd and were a great tipping off point of what was to come.

The Woody Show made an on stage appearance to introduce who the crowd were in great anticipation for: Smash Mouth. They got the crowd singing along to songs like “Can’t Get Enough of You Baby” and one of their most popular ones, “I’m a Believer” — a song I definitely relived the best of my youth to.

Nothing says ultimate 90s throwback like the band Sugar Ray. The crowd sang in unison to songs like “Fly” and “Every Morning”, making it pure bliss. The band will also be on tour this summer, so make sure to catch them live!

Headlining band Royal Machines killed it with Ink Master’s Dave Navarro and Billy Morrison. Mark McGrath joined the Los Angeles cover band to perform songs by Green Day, KISS, and more that had the crowd on their feet the rest of the night.

All in all, props to The Woody Show (“YOU KNOW!”) for knowing how to throw the best fiesta around, as I am looking forward to their next one, next year.
