Slightly Stoopid raises more than $20,000 for charity / Sounds of Summer Tour

Slightly Stoopid 1

Slightly Stoopid will round off their Sounds of Summer tour with one show at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles (August 24). After the band will head home to San Diego to perform their final show of the tour at the Del Mar Race Track (August 26). These last dates are part of a tour that has stretched over a three-month period featuring guests Iration, J Boog, and The Movement.

Over the course of the tour, the band also released a music video for their song “One Bright Day” featuring artwork from Danielle Zirk, an artist from the mainland United States who moved to Hawaii to pursue surfing and art. The music video shows Zirk’s paintings coming to life over the music from “One Bright Day”.

Slightly Stoopid has been able to utilize the art pieces in the music video for a greater cause as well. The hand painted canvasses, shown in the video, were auctioned off and all together raised over $20,000 for The Global BrightLight Foundation. The GBL provides access to affordable, practical solar energy solutions to people around the world that live in “energy poverty.”

Families have to spend money on alternate power sources like candles, kerosene, and batteries, which can cause serious health problem over time. With solar energy they can cut costs on these products, remove them from their houses and be more productive during the dark hours.
