She Wants Revenge returns to the stage for three sold out shows

She Wants Revenge returned from a near four year absence last week to three consecutive sold out Southern California shows.  They played last Wednesday and Thursday at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles, and Friday at the Observatory OC in Santa Ana.

We attended the Wednesday and Friday show and each had a different feel.  Wednesday’s crowd was very calm and wet (because of the rain outside pouring down for the previous five hours before doors opened), and Friday’s show was a lot louder and more upbeat .

Same band, different night, but songs that fit beautifully into the evening and perfect for their return to the stage.

For each evening, the band played their first album the entire way through with minimal speaking to the audience in between songs.  Lead singer Justin Warfield explained (during the second evening) that he wanted the fans to take the album for what it was worth  because many of them grew with the band and they appreciated those that have been their since the beginning, and even now, 10 years later.

Both crowds were very glad to see the band back together rocking the songs that made them popular, especially “These Things” and “Tear You Apart.”

The duo, with their additional guitarist and drummer, were very glad to be back and on stage years after announcing their initial hiatus.  Los Angeles’ show had them shaking off the rust from those years off, and Santa Ana was even more finely tuned and even better than the first show.  The crowd was louder and sang along to many more songs in the OC.

On vocals, Warfield jumped back and forth between lead guitar work.  For the songs he didn’t play guitar, he roamed around the stage, gyrated and danced around the guitar work when we had no vocals.  Warfield’s long time friend and She Wants Revenge bandmate, Adam Bravin, bounced back and forth between keyboard and bass duties.  He even thanked the crowd plenty times and seemed so welcoming to the crowds each night and was very glad to be back.

The band just announced a show for San Diego, and are sure to play plenty more shows for 2016.
