On July 2, Halflives released their new EP, V. This record follows up their 2020 release, Resilience. It opens up with “Vibe,” a track with anthemic lyrics and a fast beat that I love. “Victim” is a darker song filled with keys and a catchy guitar riff. “Valkyrie” has a softer sound at the start before picking up with a fast beat that doesn’t let up and a chorus that gets stuck in your head after the first time that you listen to it. You can watch the music video for the song here. Next up, is “Villain,” the first single off of the album. V wraps up with “V (Psycho)” with an introduction that draws you in. The song is a little bit different than I was expecting, but I love Linda Battilani’s vocals in this track.
This EP as a whole had a slightly different sound from Halflives than I excepted, but different is definitely a good thing. I’ve been listening to them for a while now, and I love that they’ve expanded on who they are and what they sound like as a band. There’s definitely a cohesive sound throughout all five of these songs and they flow together perfectly. You can check out V here.
