On June 25, From Ashes To New dropped their new EP, Quarantine Chronicles Vol. 1. Over the course of the last year, the band released a few quarantine covers, and this EP includes a couple of them. The first track, “Enough,” is a new song with a catchy riff. I love the way Matt Brandyberry’s rapped verses sound. Their cover of Linkin Park’s “Faint” doesn’t change much of the original song, but they still make it their own with their unique sound. “Bulletproof” was released on the band’s 2020 album, Panic, but this new version features Johnny 3 Tears. His new verse adds a different dimension to the song. The cover of Evanescence’s “Bring Me To Life” still has the song’s iconic dueling vocals, and the roughness in Danny Case’s vocals makes me want to listen to this track again and again. The EP wraps up with “Forgotten,” originally off their 2018 release, The Future.
Quarantine Chronicles Vol. 1 is a nice, filling EP, with just enough music to keep you satisfied while waiting on From Ashes To New to release a full-length album. I really enjoyed a lot of the covers they did, and I’m glad to see a couple of them get officially released. From Ashes To New will be going on tour starting later this summer, and you can check out all of the dates here.
