Vans Warped Tour held it’s last ever event in Ventura on Sunday, June 24th at the Ventura Fairgrounds.
Vans Warped Tour Says Good Bye to Ventura
The classic blink 182 line of “can’t wait for the summer and the Warped Tour” could not have ringed truer this day. Fans of all backgrounds waited anxiously outside the venue gates to experience what possibly was the last ever Warped Tour in Ventura County and SoCal.
The Ventura Fairgrounds has been one of the favorite venues for Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman. Lyman made it clear on his personal Twitter account that he went to great strides to make sure Ventura was part of the final cross country lineup.
The punk rock summer music festival has made waves in pop culture for the past two decades and now it is possibly coming to an end for good.
“To me it seems like yesterday and you don’t realize that 23 years has gone by,” – Kevin Lyman
Bands of All Backgrounds Came Together to Celebrate the Last Warped Tour in Ventura
Both “longtime veteran” bands, as well as promising newcomers, congregated on the Ventura Fairgrounds to celebrate all the great memories Warped Tour has created over the years.
Some of the bands that drew the biggest crowds included Taking Back Sunday, 3OH!3, The Maine and Reel Big Fish. Other notable acts that are making their mark on the scene included Hail the Sun, Picturesque, and Assuming We Survive.
What to Expect for the Legacy of Vans Warped Tour
Although the tour is currently wrapping up the final cross country run of the tour, it isn’t clear that Warped Tour will be gone for good this time next year.
After Lyman’s interview with Idobi Radio earlier this year, it seems like Lyman is hesitant to call Warped Tour off and only confirmed with the public that this is the last time Warped Tour will be doing a full cross-country run.
What does this mean? Do you think Warped is gone for good? Do you think it will come back as a weekend festival? Only time will tell. Leave us your thoughts in the comments box below.
