Who: The Bloom Tour – Troye Sivan, Carlie Hanson

Where: The Roseland Theater, Portland, Oregon

When: November 8, 2018

The Bloom Tour featuring Troye Sivan, Kim Petras and Carlie Hanson in its closing tour dates came through Portland Oregon, but that didn’t stop any of the artists from giving it their all.

At only 18 years old Carlie Hanson is already making a name for herself in the pop world. After the release of her single “Only One,” she began gaining fame and recognition. Prior to jumping on the Bloom Tour she joined the up and coming Jeremy Zucker on his sold-out headlining show, and now performs on the same stage as the pop icon Troye Sivan. Following the Bloom Tour she’ll be heading back on the road with Gnash, and after seeing her perform it’s obvious why she’s constantly on tour. With each tour she’s out on she gains more and more fans, and many of Troye’s fans were familiar with and sang along with Carlie. Her song lyrics are meaningful and relatable, she gives an energetic performance and has the time of her life on-stage. She’s the perfect artist to open, engage and energize an audience – but this is just the beginning of her career. With the talent and stage charisma she shows so early on, it’s only a matter of time before she headlines her own shows.

Troye took the stage to end the night, kind of. As Troye explained later in the show, the Roseland’s stage was too small to fit the large curtain he normally hides behind during his song “Seventeen.” So, to be even more dramatic, he closed off a portion of the balcony seats and performed half the song there before returning to the stage. Troye Sivan turned the 1,400 cap venue into an intimate setting in an impressive showing of audience engagement. Pausing between songs to speak with fans individually, show off pieces of art and various gifts that were thrown to him onstage, and even performing in a handmade floral jacket. With an intricate lighting rig, stage set changes, costume changes, natural charisma and showmanship, and of course the undeniable musical talent – Troye Sivan’s Bloom Tour was a concert and experience that blew all others away.
