Who: The Shuffers
When: March 16, 2018
Where: Mississippi Studios in Portland, Oregon
Originally formed in 2011 and at the time featured bassist Adam Castaneda and vocalist/keyboardist Pat Kelly. They’ve since brought on six other talented instrumentalists to the band, including frontwoman Kam Franklin who adds her powerful voice to the mix and helps create the eight-piece groups signature sound.
In the last two years alone the group has reached new levels after playing hundreds of shows across the U.S., playing NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, multiple music festivals, and late night shows like Jimmy Kimmel and The Daily Show. After their current U.S. tour, the band will close out the summer playing music festivals such as Leaf, Sasquatch, Friendly Gathering, Levitate, and Lockn’.
Before they head out to join the lineups of those various festivals, it’s worth seeing The Suffers’ in an intimate setting and a complete set to deliver what they’re fully capable of. First thing entering the stage, the band in unison shouts their arrival to the audience at Mississippi Studios – and everyone immediately knows they’re in for something special. With two horn players, a keyboardist, guitar, bass, drums, and a frontwoman with the vocals to elevate the group even further, The Suffers are the real deal. In an era where the lines between genres blur, The Suffers takes it further by combining the sounds of soul, R&B, and rock with their high energy sets. Their performances make an impact, and the band will be among your favorites, and pleasant surprises, at any festival they play. Catch them on tour and in their own environment at a city near you.
