Photos / Review: Talib Kweli’s “Radio Silence” album release party in Beverly Hills, California

Who: Talib Kweli

Where: Sofitel Hotel, Beverly Hills, CA

When: November 19, 2017

Renowned rapper Talib Kweli just dropped his eighth solo album and it’s just as conscious as ever. The release party was completely packed with everyone dancing and singing along at Beverly Hills Sofitel Hotel. It’s no surprise that a new album is going to feature a massive list of features and luckily these features are full of substance. Everyone from BJ the Chicago Kid, Waka Flocka and Anderson. Paak to Rick Ross have plenty to say on this album. The groovy track ‘Heads Up Eyes Open‘ speaks about character, change of heart and has a surprise amount of wisdom from Rick Ross. “Business deals and the Bentleys I can’t afford. Gotta be the example for children to do their chores.”

Although it’s been years since Kweli has collaborated with Mos Def and formed Black Star, or the early collabs with Kanye West, it’s easy to see here that Kweli has plenty of wisdom, strong flows and years of rapping to come. If you’ve held back on a new hip-hop album this year Radio Silence is the one for you.
