Photos | Review: Ricky Montgomery Plays An Incredible Sold-Out Show In DC!

Singer and internet sensation Ricky Montgomery stopped by DC last week on his fully sold-out headline tour, and this was an unforgettable show for everyone there! Just before doors, the line was wrapped around the block, and you could feel the excitement bouncing off the fans once they were let indoors.

The show started off with a wonderfully chill and jazzy set from singer Laufey. The audience quickly warmed up to her smooth voice, and when she performed an unreleased track called “Dear Soulmate”, the explanation behind the song had everyone aww-ing at the hopeless romantic up onstage. She played through several songs off her Typical Of Me album, including “Best Friend“, “Magnolia“, and she closed out her set with her song “James“. She apologized to any other James in the audience, because this song is a bit of a diss track against a guy she went on a pretty bad date with. And when she mentioned that this James actually lives in DC, everyone booed him and one guy loudly and hilariously exclaimed “F*CK JAMES!”

Now onto the one everyone’s been waiting for, it was time for Ricky Montgomery to take the stage! Once the lights dimmed, the whole crowd erupted into cheers and screams, and Ricky started off his set with “Line Without a Hook“. For never having played in DC before, this was a fantastic turnout for Ricky, with a fully sold-out show the room was packed with excited fans singing along to every single lyric. They put on such a high energy performance, bouncing around the stage, and chatting with people in the crowd in between songs. He performed several of his recent singles, including “Talk to You” and “Sorry for Me“, the latter of which he joked about a time when someone told him to write a happy song for once, he then set out to write the saddest song he could.

To close out the show, Ricky came back out for an encore and treated the audience to a few more songs, and during “This December” he had everyone jump up and down and go crazy, and sure enough they did! It was unfortunately time for the last song of the night, but with the last song being none other than their hit “Mr. Loverman“, you can bet everyone in the building was singing and dancing along the entire time and savoring every moment!
