On May 22, Hinder and Nonpoint brought their tour to the Baltimore Soundstage in Baltimore, Maryland. Nine Shrines and Chrysalis opened the show. All of the bands put on a great set, making this a line up that was absolutely worth your money.
I had heard from others that you should get to the show early to check out the opening bands, and those people were definitely right. Chrysalis was the first band on that Monday night. This was a band that sounds great live. They got the crow warmed up for the rest of the evening, with lead singer Yessi Burton getting off the stage to sing by the crowd. Chrysalis was only able to perform for about 15 minutes, but they filled their time with an extremely high energy performance.
Nine Shrines was on next. During their performance, they gained a ton of new fans, with songs such as “Parasite” and “King of Mercy.” Their show was fast paced, and all of their songs had a really catchy beat that made you want to sing along. Nine Shrines played a cover of Garth Brooks’ “Friends in Low Places.” After about half an hour, they had to leave the stage, prompting the crowd to begin an “encore” chant once they were gone.
After a bit of a wait, Nonpoint finally took the stage. It seemed that they were the band that most people wanted to see that night. Nonpoint is a band that always has a ton of energy no matter where or when you see them. In turn, the audience gave all that energy right back to them, jumping and singing along for the whole hour that they played. Nonpoint performed many fan favorites, including “What a Day,” “Alive and Kicking,” and a heavy cover of Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight.” They ended their set with “Bullet with a Name”, a song that got a small mosh pit started.
Lastly, Hinder went on. They opened their set with “All American Nightmare”, before launching into “Intoxicated,” off of their newest album, When The Smoke Clears. They performed a couple of new songs off of their upcoming release that will be released this year, including “Remember Me.” These new songs translated over well to a live setting. The band was very interactive with the crowd. Lead singer Marshal Dutton grabbed phones from a couple of fans who were filming, giving them a better view for their videos. Hinder played some of their most well-known songs, such as “What Ya Gonna Do,” “Use Me,” and “Better Than Me.” Their set would not be complete without “Lips of an Angel” and “Get Stoned,” the latter of which closed out the night with everybody singing along.
