Photos / Review: Friday the 13th with The Regrettes

On a cold Friday the thirteenth, LA-based punk band The Regrettes held a party and show to celebrate their first album, Feel Your Feelings Fool!. The sold out show was at the Echo in Los Angeles.

The lyrics are written and sung by Lydia Night, 16, guitarist Genessa Gariano, 19, bassists Sage Nicole, 18, and drummer Maxx Morando, 17.

Yes, the band is very young, but don’t let that fool you into thinking this is a group of high schoolers at the talent show. They are a group of mature individuals with lyrics and ideas so universal and timeless that virtually anyone can be (and should be) a fan.

The show opened with Starcrawler and Dog Party. Fans could take photos in their photo booth and grab a slice of cake with their album cover on it before the show.

The Regrettes put on a full show playing most of the new album. The grungy-rock songs were enough to keep the crowd entertained and rowdy for the duration of the show.

At one point in the night several audience members were causing a disturbance and others were urging Night to do something about it. Instead of brushing it off, Night took control and calmly handled the situation proving that age is just a number and that her maturity is far beyond her years.

They ended the show with a solo by the lead singer and then with the band joining her for a dancey cover of Sweet’s “Ballroom Blitz”.

After the show, the band met outside with those buying merchandise or anyone just wanting to say “Hi”. The Regrettes put on a great debut album release show and have already played multiple shows since then. They played at Amoeba Music, Girlschool, and most recently announced that they will be playing at the first annual “When We Were Young” festival held at the Observatory in Orange County.

This band is definitely one you’ll want to check out and rock to.
