Who: Fitz & The Tantrums

Where: The Anthem in Washington DC

When: February 14, 2020

Fitz and The Tantrums showed DC an unforgettable night at The Anthem this past Valentine’s Day, and you know it was something special when many couples decided to spend their evening here!

The night started off right with their opener, TWIN XL, who filled the venue with their electric energy and upbeat music. One song that stood out to me was “Thrill“, which had a very catchy beat that got everyone in the crowd grooving and jumping along with the band. They ended their set with “Good“, which was the perfect finale for them. The crowd absolutely loved it, and it got everyone in the venue ready for the rest of the night.

The audience’s cheers were deafening when Fitz and The Tantrums hit the stage. One of the songs they played very early on was “Complicated” which, paired with suggestive dancing from lead singers Michael Fitzpatrick and Noelle Scaggs, and an incredible saxophone solo from James King, started the night off perfectly!

They played a great mixture of old and new songs, with both singers jumping and dancing all across the stage, interacting with the crowd as much as possible. Having played 9:30 Club many times in their career, DC has become a special city to the band, making this show very important to them. Scaggs even got choked up talking to the crowd about this, and how happy they were to have played here tonight.

They came back onstage after their encore with their hit song “HandClap” which, as you guessed it, had the whole crowd doing the little claps along with the band, and the entire venue turned into a dance floor. Fitz and The Tantrums ended the night with their confetti canons shooting a cloud of pink and white confetti, as they gave an explosive finale with their song “The Walker“.

With the neon heart logo onstage, people all throughout the crowd held up heart hands while the pink and white confetti fluttered all around them, and the band gazed out from the stage at the end of an unforgettable show.

Be sure to check out Fitz and The Tantrums’ new album, ‘All The Feels‘, and TWIN XL’s new album, ‘How To Talk To Strangers‘.
