To start the decade off, Echosmith played the first show of The Lonely Generation Tour in Washington, DC, at the iconic 9:30 Club. They brought Weathers and Jayden Bartels out with them to open up this tour.

First up that night was Jayden Bartels. I was shocked when I first found out that she was only 15 years old, as she did such a good job performing, she made it seem like she had been on stage for decades. Her five song set included a cover of Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts,” and she closed with an original song, “New You.”

Up next was Weathers. I had previously seen this band before, and I was excited to see them again. They did not disappoint, and it was clear the rest of the crowd felt the same way. It seemed like most of the audience was singing along. They played 8 songs, closing with “I’m Not Ok,” then promised to come to their merch table after the set to meet all of their fans.

A few minutes after their scheduled start time, Echosmith came on stage to a mystical introduction. During their first song, “Love You Better,” the venue was filled with gigantic balloons that the crowd and the band kept afloat. The balloons had confetti inside of them, so when they were popped, confetti rained down over the audience. Vocalist Sydney Sierota made sure all of the balloons exploded during “Diamonds,” their next song of the night. Throughout their 15 song set, the group got everybody in the room dancing and singing along, even the bartenders. The band consists of siblings Sydney, Graham, and Noah Sierota, and they brought their dad on stage for “Everybody Cries” to play the keyboard for them. Echosmith ended the night with an encore of a song that everybody knew, “Cool Kids.”
