Chelsea Grin and Carnifex make a stop in San Diego in their co-headlining tour.

Chelsea Grin invites you to suffer in a city near you.

The House of Blues in San Diego was packed front to back, pit to balcony, thanks to the Suffer in Heaven / Suffer in Hell tour starring death-core metal kings Chelsea Grin and Carnifex. The co-headlining tour took place at the downtown venue Sunday, April 16.

The tour just recently kicked off last week in Phoenix and is scheduled to stop all across North America with a grand finale in Las Vegas, NV on May 17. The two bands are both fresh out of the studio with three new albums between the two bands. Chelsea Grin is celebrating their double LP releases Suffer in Heaven and Suffer In Hell (CHOSE ME!) while Carnifex is teasing some incredible new songs that are soon to be released on an upcoming album (album name and release date TBA).

When Carnifex stormed the stage they immediately ripped into “These Thoughts Become Cages”, followed by “Slit Wrist Savior”. The band didn’t take to many breaks between songs, but on the occasion, Lewis would let his audience know that he felt right at home as the band originates from San Diego. The set continued with endless amounts of circle pits and mosh pits, especially when the guys concluded with their smash hits “ Lie To My Face” and “Hell Choose Me”.

After a few throwback singalong songs played on the house speaker between the sets, Chelsea Grin took the stage and they were ready to rage. The band has undergone many lineup changes throughout their 15 years of existence but the stage presence and harmony was completely captivating. Tom Barber (vocals), Stephen Rutishauser (guitar), David Flynn (bass) and Nathan Pearson (drums, subbing for Pablo Viveros) brought the heat and ripped through old fan favorites “Crewabanger” and “Hostage” to close out the night after an insane night of energy and rage.
