Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden tour review

Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden played the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine on Friday to a wild crowd.

The vibe of the evening was very nostalgic, and so was the audience.  That tends to happen with bands that have been together for 20 plus years.

Most likely both of these bands are going to be bound for the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame one day, but for the time being, they paired up to deliver an incredible evening.

Following openers Cold Cave, Soundgarden took the stage, led by one of the best singers of the last 20 years, the legendary Chris Cornell.

The songs featured were off every one of the band’s six albums released, with the earliest being released in 1988.  The most notable album from the band’s existence is without a doubt, “Superunknown,” released 20 years earlier.

Twenty-six years of songs came strumming from the guitars and beaten on the drums with the smooth melodic voice of Cornell leading the way.

The veteran quartet from Seattle, Washington was the perfect band to play before the headliners.

Leading with Trent Reznor at the helm, Nine Inch Nails took to the stage.  With each band member standing in front of a individual rectangular video screen, the band did not disappoint.

Much like their predecessors, Nine Inch Nails played many songs spanning their entire discography for the past 20 plus years, including their debut album, “Pretty Hate Machine,” released in 1989.

The band played 17 songs in total, highlighting many of their hits throughout their existence, not slowing down one bit and kept the fans wanting more for the rest of the evening.

These bands complemented each other perfectly.  They went together like peanut butter and jelly.
