My Chemical Romance and Warner Music Group collectively “broke the internet” today, for lack of better words, with a vague YouTube teaser.
The video, which can be seen below, features a white flag with a black cross that is waving in the wind to the musical intro melody of the band’s hit single “Welcome to the Black Parade.”
In addition to this video, the band has updated their website and their social media, signifying that something big is coming that the band and respected parties have in store for the world.
However, many fans and curious speculators alike are still left in the dark trying to put the pieces together.
What is a giveaway clue, however, is the “X” that the band has used today to re-brand themselves. The character “X” in the context of Roman numerals means “10.” Coincidentally, the My Chemical Romance album that features the famous melody that was played in the short video also debuted roughly 10 years ago to this day.
Various fans of the band pieced these fragments of information together and jumped to the conclusion that the band will be reuniting for a 10 year anniversary tour of The Black Parade.
While this conclusion seems probable, it is still too soon to tell if this is what the band is teasing.
The possibility of a 10 year re-release of The Black Parade is also in the realm of possibilities. The band has been known in the past to release previously “shelved” songs to the public on special occasions. It would make sense that the band would re-release the album with songs that did not make the initial cut, as well as demos and B-sides, respectively.
What is clear is that whatever is coming for fans on the horizon will be related to the anniversary of the album. Fans and curious personal alike should keep a close eye on the band’s social media (as well as ours) to find out first what will inevitably again “break the internet.”
