Metalcore Mayhem: Beartooth's Epic Soma San Diego Show with Invent Animate and The Plot In You

Beartooth’s North American tour made a thunderous stop at the iconic Soma San Diego on February 22, 2024, leaving an indelible mark on the metalcore scene. The lineup was stacked with talent, featuring opening acts Sleep Theory, Invent Animate, and The Plot In You, each delivering electrifying performances that set the stage on fire.

Opening the proceedings, Sleep Theory wasted no time revving up the crowd, setting the stage for an electrifying night ahead. From the get go, the pit was open and the crowd showed up early to jump right in.

Invent Animate who truly left jaws on the floor with their blistering set. Vocalist Marcus Vik’s commanding presence, coupled with the band’s impeccable musicianship, made for a performance that was nothing short of breathtaking. The band enhanced the genuine excitement with a few synchronized jumps and headbangs particularly during their newest single “Sleepless Deadbed”. From intricate melodies to bone-crushing breakdowns, Invent Animate left no doubt that they were a force to be reckoned with.

Following suit, The Plot In You took the stage by storm, captivating the audience with their dynamic presence and infectious energy. Vocalist Landon Tewers walked back and forth on the stage watching the crowd’s huge mosh pits and sea of crowd surfers almost to ensure every person in the room was participating, and which they were. The band, consisting of bassist Ethan Yode, guitarist Josh Lewis Childress, and drummer Michael Cooper followed suit while shredding in a cloud of smoke. Tewers’ magnetic stage persona commanded attention, from “Disposable Fix” to “Closure,”. The Plot In You left no stone unturned, leaving the crowd in a frenzy of excitement. The anticipation for their upcoming EP release Vol. 2, expected May 3, has increased by tenfold.

And then, as anticipation reached a fever pitch, Beartooth took the stage with an explosive energy that set the venue ablaze. Vocalist Caleb Shomo’s raw intensity and undeniable charisma were on full display as the band tore through their setlist with ferocious determination. From “Sunshine!” to “The Past is Dead,” Beartooth delivered hit after hit, leaving the crowd exhilarated and craving more.

In the end, it was a night of pure metalcore magic, with each band leaving their mark on Soma San Diego and solidifying their status as titans of the genre. With Invent Animate and The Plot In You setting the stage on fire, and Beartooth delivering a headlining performance for the ages, it was truly a night to remember for all in attendance.
