Mayhem Festival is no longer

Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival 2015 comes to an end. After spending 8 calendar years of passion and one full year…

Today will live in infamy, because August 3, 2015 will be known as the day that metal-heads all around did not want to see coming.  It will be known as the day the summer metal touring festival, Mayhem Fest, was cancelled.

The yearly festival, which usually starts in late June and runs for about two months around the country just finished the 2015 edition on Sunday.

Word could not get out fast enough, as co-founder John Reese broke the news on his Facebook feed Sunday night, just as the final show was rounding out.

The tour has been around for the past eight years and has hosted numerous metal legends, including: Slipknot, Megadeth, Korn, Marilyn Manson, Disturbed, Anthrax and countless others.

The 2015 festival did not help future tours, as this year was probably the weakest of the eight, leading with headliners Slayer, King Diamond, HellYeah and The Devil Wears Prada on the main stage.  And this year was obviously the lowest attended due to the less than stellar lineup.

No word yet on if a replacement or similar metal tour will take Mayhem Festival’s place.  Hopefully metal fans will have have a replicant to this festival some time in the future.

But for the time being, we will take this news with a heavy heart, and our metal horns held high.
